Safa El Samad, a 2nd generation Lebanese settler on Wurundjeri land, is a multidisciplinary artist and fashion designer with a passion for upcycling objects and garments destined for landfill. Recently, she earned a Master's in Architecture from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

Safa operates her brand ‘Soof’ out of Schoolhouse studio. Soof  invites anyone to bring in old, unloved garments for revitalisation in order to mitigate the textiles from ending up in landfill and provide a sentimental attachment to the garment not found in mass produced clothing. She also loves engaging with community and collaborating with other schoolhouse artists especially to create awareness about the ongoing genocide in Palestine.

I acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I practice and create. I pay my respects to their Elders, past, present, and emerging, and acknowledge their enduring connection to this land.  I recognise the rich cultural heritage of this Country and the ongoing contributions of First Nations peoples to the arts and broader community.
